Materials relating to the 1728 duel in which Henry Phillips killed Benjamin Woodbridge on Boston Common and Phillips' subsequent flight to England and then to France, where he died intestate. The material documents his indictment and conviction in absentia for murder, and his brother Gillam's dispute with his mother, Hannah, and sister, Faith Savage, over Henry's estate.

In 1737 George II appointed a commission to settle the boundary conflict between Massachusetts Bay and New Hampshire. Both sides appealed the commission's decision to the King, who settled the matter in an order in council issued Apr. 9, 1740.
